Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved antique and estate auction with absentee, phone and online bidding through Liveauctioneers.com on Monday May 6th at 5:00 PM EST. in house previews are Sunday 5/5 from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 2PM- 4:30pm or by appointment beginning 4/20. The sale includes select items from estates in Woodstock, Cold Spring, Mahopac, Rhinebeck, Carmel and other locales.
Furniture selections from early to recent feature a fine early Phyfe style sideboard, several old cupboards, two Welsh cupboards, a rare double 19th century architects drafting desk,a selection of oak Gothic Revival pieces, a bronze mounted gilded marble top pier table, a pair signed Westport chairs from the same Maine coastal estate our past offering came from and some good 19th century garden. Mid Century highlights include a pair of BoConcept swan chairs, a rare Baker sideboard, a pair of Schumacher Furnishings mirrored cabinets, LeCorbusier lounges and sofa, a pair ofJohannes Anderson for Moreddi teak chairs, a large Omni wall unit, a complete Harvey Probber bedroom suite sold separately, a fine Harvey Probber desk, a FLW for Henredon single headboard and a Wittman authorized Joseph Hoffman settee.
An exceptional collection of bronzes from Rhinebeck is led by three fine bronzes by Sirio Tofanari from the Marinelli Firenze Foundry, a large Barbedienne Barye lion with snake, a Mathew Moreau girl and seashell,Art Deco bronzes by Duryea and Burke and several others.
Artworks are offered throughout the sale with traditional, modern and abstract artworks as well as prints and other mediums. Artists include Harold Krisel, Ralph Avery, J.D. Steven, T. DeLaurier, F.J. Boston, Ebeseder, Louise Abrams, L. Ducet and many others. Studio pottery includes works by Werner Brunk, Klars Schultz, Man Ray for Vallauris, Harris Strong, Harald Jegodzienski and others.
A selection of Asian items including jade carvings, antique furniture and coins, three albums of Donald Mennie photo images of China along with another album of equally interesting images and other various items. Porcelain and glass include sets of fine china, large groups of Lladro, leaded windows, Lalique covered dresser box, a rare Swarovski chandelier and others.
A nice selection of fine jewelry will be sold along with a selection of sterling , select US silver and gold coins including a 1901 $20.00 along with costume and a large lot of beads and findings.
Other items that should generate some interest are a large collection of US patent models from the original Rundle Gilbert collection, a rare Le Taxiphote glass slide viewer and cabinet, a fine quality table roulette wheel, a good 1824 sampler, a rare French Provincial grain Tribulium, an early 19th miniature Italian cassone and other treasure.
