Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved antique and estate auction with absentee, phone and online bidding through Liveauctioneers.com on Monday October 20th at 5:00 PM EST.  In house previews are Sunday October 19th from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 2:00pm-4:30 pm or by appointment beginning 10/13. The auction features combined estates from Westport CT.; an estate from NYC and Water Mill NY; a Garrison NY lot; collections from Akron Ohio, Rosendale NY and several others; another eclectic offering nearly 500 lots of fresh to the market goods.

Expect to find a fine selection of 18th and 19th century American and Continental furniture and accessories including several case pieces, an exceptional colonial campaign partners desk, excellent seating and several tables. An exceptional collection of English antique brass lighting and hearth items, fine porcelain tableware and decorative vases, Mettlach steins and Buffalo Deldare as well several continental figural bronzes. Victorian cast and wrought iron garden furniture, while somewhat out of season, needs to be sold. A collection of interesting ethnographic masks and figures from Africa and other locales were donated by an arts patron to the WSW in Rosendale to further their programs along with additions from two other collections.

Artworks include portraits by Raphael Soyer, Kenneth Frazier, and two from the NYC estate attributed to Gilbert Stuart, 2 by Takeo Shiiki, a fine Felix Speth oil of a millhouse, several dog and horse paintings and an early old master oil on panel. Earnest Olsen, a local painter, is represented by several oils as well as his personal papers. Another offering from a recent storage lot discovery is apparently the entire collection of work by Robert Boernstein of which his initial offering consists of 20 abstract oils and constructions, some very large and somewhat unique.

A large collection of Asian items from the Akron estate by way of Briarcliff NY will include fine porcelains, several Chinese and Japanese bronzes, cinnabar lacquer, cloisonne, Chinese and other carpets, a large Canton tableware set and other artifacts.  The ever popular Mid Century Modern grouping this sale has several stand outs including an Eames table, two Saarinen Knoll tables, a marble dining table in black and white, an Aldo Londi sculptural bird bowl, a wrought iron garden table and chairs, a large Raymond Loewey china service "Quince", a rare Tom Dixon iron framed lounge, a strange brass table purportedly from the Helena Rubenstein estate and a three fold art deco screen originally purchased from Otto Vern and purportedly originally from the sale of the Art Deco ocean liner SS Normandie.

The sale concludes with 75 lots of estate jewelry, mostly from the Westport estate to include mostly fine gold and other. Expect several hundred ounces of sterling flatware, hollowware and coins as well as an exceptional Russian .84 icon probably by Ivan Yegorov.
