May 18th Auction Summary

Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved antique and estate auction with absentee, phone and online bidding through Liveauctioneers.com on Monday May 18th at 5:00 PM EST.  In house previews are Sunday May 17th from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 2:00pm-4:30 pm or by appointment beginning 5/8. Items were collected from several estate lots from the Hudson Valley and beyond.

Highlights of the sale includes some fine mid century and modern design pieces including works by Michael Taylor, Trioh, Peter Hvidt style, Paul Frankl, Illums Bolighus, Oscar Bach and others. Arts and Crafts are represented by an early L. and J. G. Stickley strap hinge sideboard, several early Rookwood pottery pieces, Navajo rugs ,a fine brass and bead lantern, a multi piece Roseville collection including a Purple Crocus vase and other items from the period. Good decorative lots of furniture and some assorted country including an offering of 19th century tables, cabinets, chairs including Windsors, primitives and an exceptional 15 drawer painted pine 19th century cupboard. A good early workbench , a master carpenters tool box and with it the exceptional collection of original tools will be sold in separate lots.

A large selection of approximately 100 various artwork, this time from a Kingston NY estate, will be catalogued prior to the sale and after this notice goes to press. Currently listed in the sale are three  large oils by Rene Marcel Carcan, 10 oils from the remaining collection of Robert Boernstein's works and a small charming oil of a young Elanor Barry by Rembrant Peale as well as several marble and alabaster carvings.                 

Continuing with the impressive estate collection of fine porcelains is another large offering of B&G, Volkstedt, Dresden, Meissen, Lenox porcelain figures as well as Heubach, Rosenthal and DJ Copenhagen. Two fine Mettlach chargers, several estate carpets, 2 Swiss music boxes, several clocks led by a large Seth Thomas "Office Calendar and a Waltham banjo and a large local collection of Chinese and Japanese furniture, porcelain and decorative objects are scattered throughout. A large selection of sterling flatware and hollowware will include a tremendous set of Wallace Grand Baroque flatware with perhaps every serving piece and even the matching sterling candlesticks and butter dish. From a Bronx estate comes a collection of electric guitars and accessories and from a local Beacon estate comes a fine Yamaha baby grand piano ca.1973, a Buffet clarinet, a Yamaha  cornet and a Gemeinhardt flute. 

Other items of interest include a good selection garden including Victorian era steel and cast iron benches, a fine pair of Fiske urns, cast stone pieces, wicker and bamboo as as solid state Macintosh C 28 pre amp, a Macintosh 2125 Stereo Power Amplifier and a fine 19th bronze of Auguste Moreau's "Naissance de le perle", the birth of the pearl. The sale ends with approximately 75 lots of fine including gold, stones and coins along with a large selection of costume jewelry, some sold in large lots.
