Hudson Valley Auctioneers, located at 432 Main Street, Beacon, New York will present an unreserved antique and estate auction with absentee, phone and online bidding through Liveauctioneers.com on Monday August 12 at 5:00 PM EST. In house previews are Sunday 8/11 from 1pm-5pm and Monday from 2-4:30 pm or by appointment beginning 7/29. The sale includes select items from estates in Rhinebeck, Peekskill, Brooklyn, Ho-Ho-Kus and other locales.
The sale begins at 5:00 pm with a vintage toy and collectable lot from a New Jersey estate including three gas powered copters, a Marklin steam toy, early tin carousel, large set Trix trains, tin cars and 70's/80's tv inspired items. The estate also yielded some fine estate jewelry and some Mid Century furnishings and artwork.
The Peekskill estate offered some fine porcelain portrait plates, Bradley and Hubbard table lamp, two early sleds, 2 large 19th century painted tole tea canisters by Empire Hardware Co. and some early textiles and books.
Furniture selections from early to recent include several period Continental and English case pieces, Stickley Audi oak stands, fine quality vintage Chinese cabinets purchased in the 1970's along with a set of four massive rosewood chairs, a vintage Stickley style round table, pine cupboards, a double architects desk, six early Michael Thonet ebonized chairs,
Artworks are offered throughout the sale with traditional, modern and abstract artworks as well as prints and other mediums. Artists include outsider Rex Dimond, oil of forest with deer by Anton Henke, early portraits, early William Stanley folk art drawing, C.L. Lewin portrait, 2 early paint decorated ladies fans framed, a James Montgomery Flagg ink and watercolor illustration, Man Ray signed litho, Dali 1/75 litho and several others.
The Millbrook estate had several gilt frames and mirrors, several fine bronzes, a Buff and Buff transit, a few fine Continental antique furniture pieces, an early Slazengers, London tennis racket press and a Northwest coast collection from the 1960's.
Other items of interest in the 500 lot sale include two iron rooster windmill weights, an early copper horse weathervane, an 18th century brass engraved German or Spanish jewel casket, a pair of Victorian bronze lion headed gate posts, 2 carved wood carousel horses, a large Hummel collection sold as a lot, Hessel Studio copper vases, and a Naim Supernait 1 Integrated HiFi amp and other pieces and a vintage large cold painted brass Nepalese Princess on a lotus throne. Of note is also a rare #63 of 250 1932 commemorative goblets for President Roosevelt engraved by the firm of Arthur S. Vernay, NY.. Additional items will be added after this printing.
